How much does it cost to run in the Toro Loco Challenge?

$75 bucks for 1, $125 for a 2 Person Team, $200 for a 4 Person Team, or $550 for a 10 Person Megateam. We have great discounts if you register early. Click on the location you're interested in for more info. If you decide on the team of two or four, the team captain will have to pick a team name and pay for the whole team when you register. Then let your friends know! All they have to do is go to the registration page, select your team name, and enter their info. Voila….easy as pie! The earlier you register, the more you'll save. Register now!

Do you really have free parking, free spectating, and free photos?

Yes, yes, and yes. We want people to come out and have a good time with their friends, family, and hounds. Toro Town is great even if you're not racing!

What kind of shape do I need to be in?

If you can walk up and down a few flights of stairs and not pass out or cry , you’re probably in pretty good shape for the 5K Leisurely Longhorn course.

If you’re racing in the 10K Raging Bull course, you better have your act together. This is a tough obstacle adventure course….it’s a challenging course designed to test your body and your mind with kinetic obstacles and tricky challenges. Many won’t finish. We aren't going to shock you and we don't have fire (we'll sell you a Duraflame log and a strike anywhere match for 50 bucks though). You'll have a good time, but you're going to pay later.

Can I really bring my kids and dogs?

Dogs:
You betcha. They are allowed on the Leisurely Longhorn course and in Toro Town (the festival area.) They've gotta stay on a leash at all times. We love dogs and are trying to make a few bucks for the local Humane Society. You know how your dog acts with other people, dogs, kiddos, etc. If they aren’t going to be good guests, DON’T BRING THEM! You’re on the hook for anything your four-legged friend does (running away, rabble rousing, making a mess, etc.) We’ll also have dogs up for adoption just in case you're in the market (no trade-ins allowed). We’ll have a doggy agility course set up for you to have yet another opportunity to make a fool out of Fido!

Kiddos:
You know your kids best. We want to make sure that everyone stays safe and has a good time.

Leisurely Longhorn:
For each paid adult participant on the Leisurely Longhorn Course, up to two children age 8-14 can register for $20 each. The children must be accompanied by the parent at ALL TIMES. Kids 14-18 can run the Leisurely Longhorn course on their own, but they must have a signed copy of our Permission and Waiver. NO EXCEPTIONS. Ages 14-18 pay regular price. We will require ID for the kid(s) and parent or legal guardian on race day. Don’t worry about registering your 8-14 year old kids online, just bring them along, provide documentation of their age, and you can pay cash on race day. This 2-child per adult limit is to insure that someone is supervising the children. Unfortunately, due to the remote locale, as of now we can only accept cash to insure no one is left in the lurch. We want parents to see what their kids are in for, since its a long race and parents know their kids best.

Raging Bull:
We allow kids 14 and up to run the Raging Bull course when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Each child MUST be accompanied by an adult. We require a 1 to 1 ratio on the Raging Bull. All participants on the Raging Bull pay regular price. We must see proof of age and photo ID of the parent or legal guardian on race day.

In addition, children of all ages are welcome in the festival area where families can watch people on the various obstacles, cheer their friends on, and watch happy dogs on the dog agility course. Hope to see you there!

So what else do I get in addition to the most fun on two legs (or four)?

How about a sweet 100% cotton T, a dog friendly frisbee (work great as water dishes on the go),  super tasty energy goo, stickers, and some awesome swag from our sponsors! You also get a free snack and drink (must have ID for cold, sudsy deliciousness), face-painting for the lil’ ones, live mariachi, balloon sculptures, and a dang good time!

What should I bring and what should I expect on race day?

Before you leave the house:
A photo ID, a few bucks cash, a towel, change of clothes, YOUR SIGNED WAIVER (Click to view) and a good attitude. We’ll take care of the rest.

Pre Race:
Plan on showing up at least 45 minutes before your wave. You'll park as directed and head to the registration tent. You'll show us your photo ID and give us a copy of your signed waiver (Click to view). We'll get you checked in and give you a racing bib. You can leave your stuff in your goody bag while you race (the lawyers make us say we're not responsible for your stuff, but we're a trustworthy bunch with security cameras to boot!). Head over to the starting line when your wave is called.

The Race:
The Raging bull folks have a longer course with much more difficult obstacles, so they'll be in front. The Leisurely Longhorns will be in back. Once the wave starts, you'll head out onto your respective course. They will be well-marked…orange for the Raging Bulls and green for the Leisurely Longhorns. If you get to an obstacle that you don't feel comfortable with, skip it. We'll have water available at various spots on the course. Stay hydrated! You do not need to know how to swim, but your wallowing skills should be well honed. We have plenty of folks on the course keeping an eye on things. They're the ones with hugs grins, Toro Loco Challenge shirts, and radios. Feel free to grab one of them if you have any kind of problem or concern. Have a good time!

Post Race and Festival:
After you finish and stop giggling (Longhorns) or get your breath back (Bulls), you can head over to the Wash n' Dry area to get the mud off of your bod. Then stop back by coat check to pick up your swag bag and throw on your Toro Loco Challenge t-shirt and wipe the smile off your face (won't work…betcha). Drink plenty of water and have a banana, enjoy the local food trucks, tap your foot to the mariachi, laugh at the hounds on the dog agility course (maybe pick up a new one at the Humane Society Adoption Area!), and just have a good time. You get on free beverage with your race bib. This includes beer if you're over 21, have a valid ID, and it is being served at the event. Remember, A)don't drink and drive and, B) have a good time! Check out training tips, course maps of the Raging Bull and the Leisurely Longhorn, clothing suggestions and more on our Facebook page.

Does Toro Loco donate any proceeds?

Yes. We donate proceeds to the Humane Society and quite a few other charities on site that help animals in one way or another including Greyhound Rescue, Ruff Life Rescue, Arms of Angels, and others. In addition, we partner with local charities that vary by race location.

Will there be someone taking photos?

You betcha. We’ll have photos available at the end of the race.  They’ll be uploaded to our Facebook page so you can save and print for free! We'll announce on Facebook as we upload the photos. We’ll also be taking additional photos if you want to pay a few bucks for the uber cool poser shots. We print these while you wait and can email them to you as well. We are NOT going to try to gouge you for 50 bucks just to download the images.

Are there prizes if I’m super?

The top three overall winners on the Raging Bull course will get free entry to the race of their choice. We'll also have the Ambassadors of Good Will patrolling the festival area giving away a bunch of prizes, but don’t expect anything you can pad your resume with. Think more along the lines of best costume, worst costume, best team name, worst dressed dog, etc. Prizes include free gear, gift certificates, free entry in another Toro Loco Challenge and all kinds of other fun stuff.

Can I just sit and be a spectator?

As long as you tap your foot once and awhile. We'll have great music in the festival area, face painters for the little nose miners, balloon sculptors, dog agility courses, and you can see up close and personal some of the craziest Locos on the best obstacles. You won’t be bored. Promise.

I want to volunteer, sponsor, request more info, or get a job so I can move out of my parents house?

What about refunds?

We put on races that we want to participate in. If for some reason we are forced to cancel a race, we’ll do everything we can to make it right. At the VERY least, we’ll transfer you to another race or reschedule the race. It may take some time and you may not be the happiest camper in the world while we figure it out, but we aren’t going to take your money and run.
